Invited by Milovan Farronato, the Italian Pavilion curator at the 58th International Art Exhibition – the Venice Biennale, Christian Holstad created a work inspired by the continuous news on the growing pollution of the seas and oceans around the world.
The artist realized an iconic Cornucopia, entirely produced with plastic waste. The ancient symbol of abundance is distorted in this work, acquiring an unprecedented negative sense of “excess.
The installation will be displayed from 9 to 11 May 2019 on the waters of the Grand Canal and, from 12 May to 12 June 2019, in the courtyard of the Ca’ Foscari University.
